The tragic message of Professor Ernst Lehnhardt’s decease arrived during the 4th National Congress of Russian Audiologists in Suzdal dedicated to the 20th anniversary of cochlear implantation in Russia. The sorrowful coincidence – Prof. Lehnhardt was the pioneer of cochlear implantation in this country. The contribution of Prof. Lehnhardt as a surgeon and scientist is inestimable both at European as well as global level. Thousands of hard-of-hearing patients received their cochlear implants thanks to the invaluable experience shared by Prof. Lehnhardt during the first CI surgeries implemented in our Center. Innumerous patients all over our planet are thankful to Prof. Lehnhardt for bringing them back to the world of sounds!
The memory of Prof. Ernst Lehnhardt – fabulous man, brilliant surgeon, and talented scientist – will remain in our hearts forever!

I was very sorry when I heard this sad news.
I had the honour in a certain period to meet with Professor Lehnhardt quite often. I recognized him as an excellent surgeon with authority to teach the others as well as a friendly man with a wide heart. Among his many other good traits, I highly appreciated the courage he showed both in personal and in professional life. It’s really a great loss.

auch von mir meine aufrichtige Anteilnahme!

Mit Freude denke ich daran, was durch das Wirken von Prof. Lehnhardt möglich wurde – er hat ein Stück weit die Welt verändert!
So viele Kinder, die durch seine Pionierarbeit in das Reich des Hörens eintauchen durften (und weiterhin dürfen) und dadurch ein (fast) ganz normales Leben führen können – das ist das schönste Geschenk, das er uns gemacht hat!

Er wird uns allen in guter Erinnerung bleiben!

Dear Monika,
Please accept my deepest condolences. Prof. Lehnhardt was among the founders of cochlear implantation in Russia. Moreover, he was a great personality. I will keep the memory of Ernst – wonderful man and outstanding professional.

It is very sad to hear prof.dr.Lehnhardt died. In Slovenia we will keep worm memories on him as he was the one who helped us unselfishly to establish the cochlear implant programme. A great man.

Dear Monika,
I lost a patient, a great surgeon and a friend. Although I personally met him two years ago first time he deeply impressed me in terms of his really great personality. I remember our conversations about the MHH Hannover, the University Göttingen, the cochlear implantation story and things touching both of us. He should rest in peace and we should be thankful to met such a wonderful person in our life.

Please accept my sincere condolences!
Prof. Ernst Lehnhardt was the first who started cochlear implantation for children in my country – Latvia, and he will always stay as a first.
Many people in Latvia will remember him, but especially – our little Janis and my star patient – Maša.

meine aufrichtige Anteilnahme.

Für einen solchen Moment die würdigen Worte zu finden und für einen Menschen der so viel bewegt hat ist nicht einfach.

Könnten hier die Kinder kondolieren, deren Leben Prof. Lehnhardt und Eure Stiftung verändert und breichert haben, würde wohl der Platz auf dieser Seite nicht ausreichen.

“Meine” Nicoleta würde wohl folgendes schreiben:

“Lieber Herr Professor Lehnhardt, leider hatte ich nie die Gelegenheit, Sie in meine kleinen Arme zu schließen und mich persönlich dafür zu bedanken, dass Sie und die Stiftung mein Leben verändert haben.
Ich konnte mich auch nie persönlich bei Ihnen dafür bedanken, dass ich endlich die Stimme meiner Mama hören kann, dass ich die Musik zu der ich vor dem Fernseher tanze auch höre, auch nicht dafür, dass Sie mir eine Zukunft geschenkt haben.
Aber auch wenn ich Sie nie in meine Arme schließen kann, so schließe ich Sie doch als Schutzengel in mein Herz, in dem Sie mich voll Dankbarkeit begleiten werden.
Ein Leben, dass ich ohne Sie nicht hätte führen können. Sie werden mich für immer begleiten in jedem Lächeln und in jeder Melodie die ich hören kann und ich danke Ihnen von Herzen, dass Sie das durch Ihr Lebenswerk ermöglicht haben.”

Liebe Monika,
ich habe Prof. Lehnhardt zwar nie persönlich kennen lernen können, aber so viel gutes über sein Leben und seine Arbeit gehört, die vielen Menschen zu einem wertvolleren Leben verholfen hat. Sein Geist lebt über Deine Arbeit in der Stiftung weiter, und so wirkt sein Leben immer noch über seinen Tod hinaus. Ich möchte Dir meine tiefe Anteilnahme an diesem Verlust zum Ausdruck bringen und wünsche Dir Kraft und Mut für Dein weiteres Wirken, auch in seinem Sinne.
